Weather

The ski-season starts in early/mid December and runs through to the end of April. There are lots of special events in Verbier in December to celebrate the start of the season. Conditions are normally stable by Xmas/New Year and January is normally cold and sunny with excellent powder. February continues in a similar vein, but normally slightly warmer and March is normally blessed with “skiing in T-shirts” weather! Around the end of March/early April, Verbier normally has a “big dump” of snow and conditions in April are very often the best of the season with deep powder and creamy pistes.

May and June are often sunny and dry. At this time of the year, you can easily do ski-mountaineering or heliskiing at altitude, mountain biking into the valley and low-level rock-climbing as well as mountain walks of all lengths and difficulties.

July, Aug and September are sunny and often very warm. Conditions are perfect for taking advantage of the ski-lifts to do mountain biking and hill walking (without the up-hill slog!). Rock climbing at all altitudes is excellent at this time of the year and this is the prime season for bagging the 4000m peaks.

October and November are often surprisingly sunny but the weather at high altitude is unpredictable but mountain biking, climbing and hill walking is all possible at lower altitudes.
